DEDRYCK BOYATA’S Celtic stay looks all but over this week with the defender reportedly close to a deal which would take him away from Glasgow to Berlin.
The Belgium international has been winding down his Celtic career after refusing to sign a new deal earlier this season.
For Boyata, this will be his last big football contract and it looks like Hertha Berlin are willing to sanction a massive £2million a year contract for the defender.
Celtic would not be willing to match those sort of wages and while Celtic fans have known for some time that the player will be off it seems like it will be made official sooner rather than later.
These reports from SunSport come days after Neil Lennon suggested the defender could still stay at the club beyond the summer. The interim Celtic manager told the media he was unaware of any moves his defender was making to leave the club.
Boyata has been a fantastic asset to the club and a man rejuvenated under Brendan Rodgers but the club should not even try and compete with the sort of wage pack which is being offered.
