Club President Reacts to Celtic Rumour

Croatian side Hajduk Split has broken their silence on Celtic’s recent link to 19-year old defender Mario Vuskovic.

At the end of last week, Italian journalist Nicolo Schira reported that Celtic had a bid rejected of around £4.3 million from Hajduk Split for the young Croatian defender.

However, as quoted by Sun Sport the club’s president has now opened up on the reports insisting that the club is in no rush to sell Vuskovic this summer.

“I can neither confirm nor deny the recent reports about a bid for Mario.

“The player will only be sold if the deal represents good business sense for the club. We are no longer in a position where we have to sell players to survive.

“The club is in a much better position financially and we will look at Mario’s position at the end of the season.”

Last summer, Celtic’s recruitment was clearly a key factor in some of the failings this season with players such as Vasilias Barkas and Shane Duffy not living up to the potential that some Celtic fans may have expected from signings of that sort of calibre due to the money involved.

With those failings, it makes this summers business even more important and the club has to get transfer dealing spot on.

Vuskovic looks like a talented player, who will likely end up and another side in Europe this season. Whether that is Celtic though, remains to be seen.
