Both Celtic and Rangers suffered defeats on the same weekend, marking only the fifth time in fifteen years that both sides have lost on the same day in the Scottish Premiership.

Brendan Rodgers’ men fell 2-1 to Hibernian at Easter Road, offering Rangers a huge opportunity to close the gap at the top with a win over St Mirren at Ibrox.
However, instead of taking advantage, Philippe Clement’s side collapsed and fell to a 2-0 defeat to Stephen Robinson’s well-drilled St Mirren outfit.
It was an opportunity wasted for Rangers, and Chris Sutton didn’t hold back in his reaction on social media.
Taking to X, the former Celtic striker wrote:
“Even when the door is left ajar… dear me, time for change.”
Sutton’s pointed remark highlights Rangers’ inability to take advantage when given a chance to put pressure on Celtic; not that much pressure would have been applied.
Celtic now finish the weekend every further ahead of Rangers, despite both dropping points. Celtic’s goal difference actually increased by 1 over their Glasgow rivals.
It’s set to be an interesting week, especially on the other side of the city. Will Philippe Clement finally be given his books? There are no signs to suggest a sacking is imminent despite being on the brink for much of this season.
Celtic will look to get back to winning ways on Tuesday, when Aberdeen visit Glasgow. The Dons have won their last three, after picking up some form.
