Celtic have taken the lead at Pittodrie with new signing Benji Nygren bagging his first goal for the club – and it came courtesy of a moment of quality from returning hero Kieran Tierney.
The Swedish midfielder showed sharp instincts to get in front of his marker and finish from close range, but it was the build-up that had Chris Sutton on commentary purring. Tierney produced that little bit of class to get the space for the cross and put it into a great area for the Swede.
Sutton summed it up live: “It’s all about Kieran Tierney in the first place. And Milanovic, I think, doesn’t cover himself in glory. But that little burst there, that shift, that power…”

It was vintage Tierney – quick acceleration from a standing start and the perfect ball into the danger zone. Nygren still had work to do, darting ahead of the Aberdeen defender to meet it, but the finish was cool and clinical.
For Nygren, it’s a moment he’ll remember. The midfielder only joined Celtic this summer and has been bedding into Brendan Rodgers’ side. Opening his account in such a high-intensity away fixture will do his confidence no harm at all.
For Tierney, this is exactly the sort of impact supporters dreamed of when his return was announced. After years away in the Premier League, the Scotland international looks right at home once again, providing the kind of attacking threat from full-back that made him a fan favourite in the first place.
