Chris Sutton Salutes Celtic Duo as Standard Set in Kilmarnock Thrashing

Chris Sutton hailed Celtic’s response against Kilmarnock and singled out Greg Taylor and James Forrest for particular praise following the emphatic 5-1 win at Parkhead.

Taylor, widely expected to leave the club this summer, delivered a man-of-the-match performance against his former side. The 27-year-old operated in his familiar inverted left-back role and was instrumental during a rampant first-half display that saw Celtic blow their visitors away.

As Quinny mentioned on CeltsAreHere’s preview of the game, Greg Taylor was Celtic’s most important attacking midfielder.

Sutton took to social media to highlight Taylor’s contribution, writing: “Greg Taylor man of the match what a difference he made.” The left-back’s energy, positioning, and link-up play with Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda on the left flank were a constant menace for Derek McInnes’ side.

It would be exceptional business to convince him to sign a new deal, but it doesn’t seem likely.

The former Celtic striker also praised James Forrest, who rolled back the years with a lively and industrious performance. He added something to that flank that Nicolas Kuhn doesn’t, especially defensively. Forrest, now one of the most experienced players in the squad, continues to prove his value in key moments despite fierce competition for places.

“Old timer James Forrest was excellent,” Sutton added. “What a servant to the club he has been.”

Celtic’s blistering first-half performance reaffirmed their grip on the title race and silenced any lingering doubts after last week’s slip-up at St Johnstone. With the Scottish Cup semi-final on the horizon and the league title all but secured, performances like these are a timely reminder of the quality and depth still within Brendan Rodgers’ squad.
