Kris Boyd found himself being rinsed by Chris Sutton last weekend when he voiced that Kyogo didn’t quite match Lawrence Shankland from Hearts in terms of finishing skills.
Chris Sutton, who constantly holds Boyd’s bizarre anti-Celtic comments to account, couldn’t help but tease him after Kyogo’s wonder goal against Rangers days after Boyd declared Shankland was a better finisher, and this continued when the two were asked by Sky Sports to choose their top players for the season so far.
Sutton, a Celtic legend, was taken aback to see Kyogo left out of Boyd’s selection, while Boyd couldn’t stop chuckling at a particular Rangers player missing from Sutton’s list.

Sutton commented on Boyd’s apparent bias, saying, “There’s something about Kris with Kyogo.” Boyd firmly denied any partiality, explaining, “There isn’t anything. I always think if you’re at the Old Firm, you should be the top goalscorer, and Kyogo isn’t leading at the moment, which is why I’ve chosen Shankland and (Bojan) Miovski.”
Sutton retorted, highlighting Kyogo’s significant contributions: “In the decisive games, who is the guy who has stepped up? Kyogo. Just because he favours Lawrence Shankland doesn’t mean he wants to acknowledge Kyogo, which is okay. I don’t think Kyogo will lose any sleep over this.”
The debate between the two pundits adds an entertaining layer to their analysis. Sutton has been a breath of fresh air into the Sky Sports fold. Boyd has been stuttering his way through many Celtic games for years now largely unchallenged. Anything Boyd says now, Sutton will hold his feet to the fire.
