Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton praised Celtic’s Champions League win over Feyenoord during the week in his latest RecordSport column. The Englishman admitted there is still much to do for the Hoops to progress in Europe, however.
Sutton believes that for The Bhoys to get better, they must dip into the transfer market. He said: “The club needs to deliver the right additions. Then he (Brendan Rodgers) needs to deliver when he gets them. It’s the only way Celtic will go forward in Europe.”

As much as it is important to bring in new additions, they have to be the right ones and not ‘development’ players, claims Sutton: “Players need to be bought. Good quality players with experience. Not development players. The club already has those. They need help from senior faces who have been around a bit.”
The manager has previously admitted he is eager to add fresh faces to his squad in the New Year. Rodgers wants ‘quality’, and the need for it, along with a tad more experience, has been clear this season at certain points domestically, and in Europe.
