Chris Sutton reacts to Celtic’s Champions League win

Celtic finally broke their home Champions League drought with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Feyenoord, courtesy of Gustaf Lagerbielke’s maiden goal for the club.

The night at Celtic Park was electric as fans witnessed their team securing their first three points at home in Europe’s elite competition since 2013. This victory, though coming at the end of a challenging campaign, injected a much-needed sense of pride and accomplishment into the team.

Luis Palma set the pace for the evening, confidently converting a penalty in the first half to give the home side the lead.

However, Feyenoord struck back to level the scores, setting the stage for a tense and gripping remainder of the second half. It was then that Lagerbielke, a relatively new addition to the Celtic squad, etched his name into the club’s European folklore. With a beautifully taken header, he found the back of the net, securing a historic win for the Hoops.

The significance of the win was not lost on former Celtic player and club legend Chris Sutton.

Sutton took to Twitter to express his thoughts: “Well at least the home record rot has stopped even if it was a dead rubber. Worst ever as a player going into a game with just pride to play for and to the player’s credit they did that.”
