CHRIS SUTTON has revealed what he believes Celtic’s best piece of business was in the January transfer window in his RecordSport column.
The former Celtic striker believes Brendan Rodgers’ captures in the window has swung the pendulum back in Celtic’s favour with regards to the ‘title race’ and with a raft of new players to help ensure they keep on their toes until the end of the season is good news.
However, the best bit of business in the BT Pundits mind is the deal signed by Celtic captain Scott Brown.
There was a lot of talks and discussions about Brown would take a lucrative deal down under to leave Celtic at the end of this campaign. During the final day of the window, the club announced they had re-signed the midfielder on a two-year deal. Something Sutton believes is vital to continue Celtic’s success until the end of the season and beyond.
“Perhaps the best bit of Celtic business was Scott Brown staying. I know there is a debate about whether Callum McGregor is more suited in his position but I am still convinced the captain has a heck of a lot to offer this season and beyond.
:Forget about Brown leading Celtic to 10 in row, this is about the here and now and he will be needed to steer this new-look side to the finishing line.”
