Chris Sutton makes massive Celtic transfer policy claim

Celtic’s recent 2-0 defeat to Hearts has sparked significant unrest among the club’s supporters, culminating in vocal dissatisfaction with the board and management.

The defeat, coming on the heels of a Champions League win, has intensified concerns over the team’s direction and transfer strategy.

During a discussion on BBC Radio 5 Live’s 606 programme, a Celtic fan expressed the belief that the summer signings were orchestrated by the board, particularly Peter Lawwell, rather than manager Brendan Rodgers. However, Chris Sutton countered this view, stating that, to his knowledge, Rodgers had approved all the signings.

“Well, you say that [the signings are Lawwell’s]. But, to my knowledge, Brendan signs all the players off. They are Brendan’s signings.”

It’s quite something that Rodgers had the final say on all the players, yet, when you look at the team that finished yesterday, none of them were signed in the summer. Palma was the only signing from the window to feature, with guys like Holm, Nawrocki, Yang and Lagerbielke not even quoted.

The back-to-back league defeats have come at a particularly sensitive time, especially with the derby looming.

The upcoming match against Livingston next Saturday will be a crucial moment for both the team and the management, as it presents a chance to address the fans’ concerns and demonstrate a commitment to turning the tide. However, David Martindale’s Livi will be no easy match.
