The seasoned goalkeeper made his final appearance at Parkhead on Saturday, where Celtic celebrated their victory with a 3-2 win against St Mirren.

During the match, the fans showed their appreciation for Hart with a banner in the second half, and he received a standing ovation when he was substituted late in the game for Scott Bain. Hart also shared the joy of lifting the trophy with captain Callum McGregor and is set to seek another winner’s medal in the upcoming Scottish Cup Final against Rangers.

After the match, Hart shared his thoughts, noting that he feels physically capable of continuing but chooses to retire while at his peak.

Despite the ‘keeper’s stance, Sutton believes Hart’s contributions to Celtic might warrant a change of heart. Speaking on BBC 606, Sutton highlighted Hart’s vital role at the club, “The issue with Joe Hart – I say an issue – he has brought so much to Celtic.

“Joe is 37 now and not only has he been a brilliant goalkeeper, he has been such a leader from day one. He’s a massive player for them and has been integral for Celtic, especially the longer the season has gone on.

“I think he’s irreplaceable, I really do. He’s had that much of an impact. I get what Joe’s saying, but when you have so much to offer – c’mon Joe, do a u-turn, do the right thing.”
