Celtic star Josip Juranovic has been linked with a Celtic exit, with transfer Fabrizio Romano claiming there is interest from Premier League clubs.
His vague tweet sent Celtic fans into meltdown, worrying that thee fan favourite would be a premature exit. However, there have since been suggestions that the Croatian is not planning on leaving Celtic this summer, preparing for the title defence season with Champions League football to look forward to.
Chris Sutton is certain that Josip won’t leave Celtic this summer. The BT pundit believes the player is more than happy at the club, loving every minute of it. Writing in the Daily Record, the former Celtic striker reasoned;
“This goes for all of the new guys that Postecoglou introduced and integrated into Celtic who made a mark. Juranovic looks to be in a superb position in terms of his career. Having just moved from Legia Warsaw less than a year ago, he’s got the fans’ backing and he’s settled brilliantly into the squad.
“Juranovic has performed well, collected two winners medals already and he seems content at his work. Now, let’s be clear, I don’t know the guy at all. Never met him. But everything you hear about him says he’s strong within the group and a popular one amongst the squad.
“You can see his acts on the pitch. When Daizen Maeda scores a goal, he joins him and copies the Japanese’ goal celebration. When Giorgos Giakoumakis was on a hat-trick against Ross County in March, Celtic got a penalty and Juranovic, the normal taker, chucked the Greek the ball to complete his treble. It’s just those little things which say a lot.
“Then, when you couple that with the type of performances that he had against Rangers at home in the 3-0 win and the Panenka penalty he scored in Leverkusen, it shows the quality of player as well as character.”
Chris is right, Juranovic even admitted himself he’s loving life at Celtic and was looking forward to the upcoming season.
Josip Juranovic’s World Cup Ambitions
With Croatia competing in the World Cup in November, it’s risky moving away from guaranteed first-team action.
He’s a definite starter in the Celtic squad, performing to a high standard. This season, he’ll be able to show off his quality on Europe’s top stage.
If he makes a move down south, to a mid-table club and fails to break into the starting team, he potentially misses representing his country in Qatar this year.
it makes sense, for all parties, to remain at Celtic for at least another season.
