BT Sport pundit and former Celtic striker, Chris Sutton has hit out at Gary Breen on Twitter over his comments around Shane Duffy.
Breen claimed that due to the standard of football in Scotland, Duffy could struggle to get in the Ireland National side. These comments were of course, ridiculed by many on social media, including Sutton who called the comments ‘idiotic’

The Englishman, made the claim that if Scottish Football was good enough for the likes of Henrik Larsson and Virgil Van Dijk, then it will be good enough for Duffy to get in the national side.
Sutton has always been an advocate for the Scottish game, having to stick up for it on a regular basis. As a pundit, he has watched both Scottish and English football, whilst also playing in both, so I’m sure Sutton is a good enough judge out of anyone.
These comments by Breen, really were disrespectful towards the Scottish game, which is so often talked down despite having a lot of underrated quality throughout, that some just don’t see
