Former Celtic striker Chris Sutton believes that Luke McCowan will be desperate to start more, despite starting in two of Celtic’s last three games.
McCowan has found starts hard to come by, with Paulo Bernardo and Reo Hatate favoured ahead of him at times this season, although he finally seems to have broken that trend recently.

With Sutton of the belief that McCowan has really shown himself to be an inspired signing.
He said Live on Sky Sports Football (11/01/25 at 2:50 pm), “I think he has been sensational since he has signed for Celtic.
“He just adds sharpness whenever he comes on. He should score, but it’s such a composed finish. A couple of quick touches and McCowan impresses.
“He will probably think ‘my performances, I deserve more game time’. Celtic have strength in depth in that area. He has got such great composure. Always adds something when he does come off the bench.”

Having joined Celtic on transfer deadline day for just £1 million, it looked to be a bargain before McCowan had even signed the contract.
Anyone who had watched McCowan at Dundee previously would have known the talent he would bring to Celtic, with 4 goals and 3 assists in 18 league games so far for the Hoops.
Despite limited game time, he has already risen to the occasion.
The fact that he is a boyhood Celtic supporter also makes the move that bit more special.
With a lot of his career spent in the Scottish Championship, he has worked harder than most to seal a dream move to the Hoops later in his career.
Midfield is arguably the strongest part of the Celtic team currently; however, McCowan brings a different dimension to any other midfielder at the club.
As Sutton points out, any time he comes off the bench, supporters now expect him to score, a wonderful trait for a Celtic midfielder to have, with his late goal against Ross County yet another example of this.
The second half of the season will prove huge for McCowan. Having joined so late in the summer window, he is improving week by week, with leaders like Callum McGregor in the dressing room to learn from.
He is likely to start a lot more games over the coming months.
