Sutton pointed out that Idah’s impressive performances for both Celtic and the Republic of Ireland might have put him out of Celtic’s financial reach.

During his loan stint at Celtic, which began in January, Idah was pivotal in securing the league title and played a crucial role in winning the Scottish Cup, scoring the decisive goal in the 90th minute against Rangers.

Brendan Rodgers praised Idah as a key factor in the team’s success this season and expressed a desire to secure his services permanently.

However, Sutton, writing for the Daily Record, suggested that Idah’s recent goal for Ireland in a friendly against Hungary only served to enhance his market value.

“Adam Idah fits that bill, of course, but his stock has risen since his loan move and his thumping header for the Republic of Ireland in their friendly win against Hungary the other day didn’t help much either.

“New Norwich City manager Johannes Hoff Thorup wants to check him out in pre-season and even if he doesn’t fancy the striker, he’s not going to be allowed to leave on the cheap no matter how much he wants to come back to Celtic.”

The lack of an option to buy in Idah’s loan deal suggests that the club were using him as a short-term fix and had another option lined up for the summer.
