Celtic centre-forward Kyogo Furuhashi came to the fore for his side in Saturday’s Glasgow derby. The Japanese hitman scored what turned out to be the deciding goal in his side’s 2-1 triumph.
It was a strike of sheer brilliance from the striker and with it, he silenced pundit Kris Boyd. Leading up to the game, the Sky Sports man claimed Kyogo couldn’t finish like Lawrence Shankland did in Wednesday evening’s Edinburgh derby.
Today, his point was proved wrong by Kyogo himself. Live on air with Sky Sports (via Daily Record), Chris Sutton pulled up Boyd about his prior claim, to which he responded: “It’s a game of opinions. You have a lot of opinions about some referees give some penalties for some teams. Enjoy the cold!”

As always Boyd’s mouth gets him into trouble and instead of putting his hands up and saying he was wrong, he claimed the game is all about opinions when his own opinion had just been left in tatters with Kyogo’s incredible second half strike.
In the future, Boyd should learn to not make such foolish arguments. With the number of goals Kyogo has scored against the team he supports, the 40-year-old should know how lethal he can be in front of goal.
Yet again today, the 28-year-old put Rangers to the sword, making it two goals in consecutive Glasgow derbies this season. He truly is the side Govan team’s nemesis.
