Chris Sutton Delivers Stinging Response to Michael Beale Celtic Comments

CHRIS SUTTON was at it again in his RecordSport column when it came to holding certain people to task over comments.

His eye firmly on comments made by Rangers assistant manager Michael Beale. It was last month when Beale described the League Cup Final as one of the most one-sided cup finals in the history of football to The Record. There’s absolutely no doubt his side played better on the day BUT Chris Sutton isn’t impressed by the bluster and reminded Beale what bus the trophy went home on.

“As for the domestic cup competitions, unblemished. Through to the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup with the Betfred Cup already tucked in the cabinet for a fourth straight term.

“Having listened to the postscript over recent months and rhetoric coming from Ibrox, I realise it was the most one-sided game through Rangers domination since Arbroath beat Bon Accord 36-0.

“There’s just one problem with all of that talk. The trophy ended up leaving Hampden on the Celtic team bus headed back for the party at Parkhead. Cup ties are about winning, aren’t they?”

We’ll also forgive Beale for not referencing the 1957 Hampden Cup Final with a certain scoreline ending 7-1.

Sutton never misses the mark and is happy to score an open goal when the opportunity presents itself. Yes, they played better on the day but in the end, Celtic won the game and could have won it by two had Mikey Johnston buried his chance towards the end of the game.

Missing chance after chance and even a penalty has to be seen as a massive failure – not something to be proud of.
