Chris Sutton ‘Can’t Understand’ Some Celtic Fans Mentality

CHRIS SUTTON has again came out and said he doesn’t understand the Celtic fans who ultimately prioritise domestic success over progress in Europe.

The bhoys have struggled in Europe under Rodgers. The furthest they have got was the last 32 of the Europa League after securing 3rd spot on their Champions League group.

Rodgers men went out in the last 32 to Zenit after an impressive home win but followed up by a typical Celtic away performance.

The BT pundit thinks that if he was a player in that dressing room, having secured back to back trebles, he’d be looking to make the step up in Europe.

The former Celtic striker had been critical of Rodgers seemingly prioritising the League Cup semi-final over the Leipzig tie with the Irishman unwilling to risk certain players in Germany.

It paid dividends with Celtic making it to the final and the club are still on course for a treble, treble. While this would be an amazing achievement, Sutton thinks now is the time for Europe even if it costs them one trophy domestically.

”The Celtic fans are split and I can’t understand it, the fans who just want pure domestic success over progress in Europe” said Sutton.

I don’t think it’s as straight forward as that, of course every Celtic fan wants to fly the flag in Europe but at the same time very reluctant to give anyone an inch domestically to win something.
