Cheeky Parkhead Tannoy Update Gets Celtic Fans Roaring After Rangers’ Misery

Celtic couldn’t resist a sly troll at city rivals Rangers last night after their 2-0 victory over Dundee.

Hoops fans enjoyed an early Halloween treat yesterday evening as the Bhoys defeated the Dees by two goals to nil in a routine home victory, while the Gers lost out at Pittodrie.

In Glasgow, it took a while for the Celts to click into gear, with substitute Alistair Johnston breaking the deadlock on the hour mark after he forced the ball home from Yang Hyun-jun’s deflected cross.

Arne Engels remained cool and composed from the spot to double the lead six minutes later, scoring the third penalty of his Celtic career into the Jock Stein stand.

As the night went on and the points were secure, the Parkhead faithful became increasingly engrossed in events in the northeast.

Aberdeen went 1-0 up in the first half through Nicky Devlin, although Philippe Clement’s men found themselves level thanks to Nedim Bajrami, whose equaliser, he hoped, was a springboard for a hard-fought win. Shayden Morris had other ideas, however, rattling home what was the decisive goal for the Dons with just over 15 minutes to go.

News of Jimmy Thelin’s side going 2-1 filtered through to Glasgow’s east end just before Celtic’s game against Dundee ended.

Indeed, as the players completed their post-match lap of honour, the Celtic Park stadium announcer gave the latest scores from around the grounds in Scotland.

A raucous cheer went up as he let fans know that Aberdeen were leading 2-1 against Rangers.

With Clement’s side now nine points behind the Dons and Celtic, their poor start to the league campaign is becoming even more unrepairable as the weeks go on.

Full attention for the Hoops, though, is now on Saturday’s Premier Sports Cup semi-final.
