Hamilton Academical are set to appoint former Celtic star Charlie Mulgrew as their new Under-18s coach. [Record Sport]

This move is part of a broader restructuring at the club following the departure of long-standing Elite Academy chief George Cairns.
Mulgrew, who has enjoyed a successful playing career with over 150 appearances for Celtic, will now oversee Hamilton’s U18 Elite Youth Academy team, with the announcement set for Wednesday.
He revealed he was interviewed for the Celtic Under 18s job, but missed out on the role, with Johnny Hayes being appointed to the B Team and Adam Asgar to the Under 18s.
Mulgrew previously told CeltsAreHere, “I’ve applied for it, I’ve done an interview but I’ve not heard anything back.
“I’m checking my phone every day – hopefully I can get that opportunity.”
Charlie’s son, Josh, signed his first professional contract with Celtic on Monday.

The Champions League experienced player has completed his coaching badges and was taking in training sessions last season. He visited Lennoxtown last season to see how Brendan Rodgers works as well as heading down south taking in how the likes of Roberto de Zerbi and Russell Martin conducted their training.
