Former Celtic man Charlie Mulgrew made quite an impression during his co-commentary stint for Scotland’s match against Portugal on Tuesday night.

Mulgrew, who has been steadily carving out a role in the media with appearances on podcasts, Premier Sports punditry panels, and the likes of BBC and Sky Sports, showcased his wit and charm in the gantry.
As expected, Mulgrew’s patter was spot on, delivering a few memorable one-liners that had viewers laughing along. One of his comments cheekily took aim at Tony Ralston, while he didnβt hold back from poking fun at Cristiano Ronaldo either.
βScrewed Ralston into the deck there, somebody will need to unscrew him.β

These are just the clips doing the rounds on social media, but throughout the game he was delivering great patter.
His commentary had a relaxed, pub-like feel, as if he was watching the match with his pals, which added a refreshing change to the usual broadcasting style.
Beyond the laughs, Mulgrew also offered sharp analysis of the game, proving that his football insight is as valuable as his sense of humour. His down-to-earth and engaging approach was a welcome break from the typical voices in the commentary box.
With his blend of wit and solid football knowledge, there’s no doubt that fans will be keen to hear more from Mulgrew on co-comms in the future. Hopefully, it’s just the beginning of him in the gantry.
And I’ve got to say, I really do, it’s tremendous to finally have a bearable Scottish commentator; it really is…
