The misunderstanding seemingly around the leagues which are having to abandoned out of necessity and their place in Europe.
There had been initial worries that leagues which failed to restart would be punished by UEFA – losing out on European spots but that was thankfully cleared up.

However, UEFA have made it clear this isn’t what’s happening at present.
1/2 With regard to the way some quotes in an interview with beIN have been reported, UEFA wishes to make clear that President Čeferin said that clubs from leagues which were abandoned in this season would still need to be ready to play qualification rounds for next season…

UEFA were in denial about the rest of the season being played out across all their associations and they seem to think that the Champions league and Europa League as they know it can still go ahead in its normal format next term. It’s unlikely to be the case.
