Champions League Finalists Scout Celtic Target – Report

Celtic’s interest in Serbian starlet Veljko Milosavljević may soon face a significant challenge, with Sportsport.ba suggesting that Paris Saint-Germain have joined the race to sign the highly-rated centre-back.

Just 17 years old, Milosavljević has been turning heads in his breakout season with Red Star Belgrade. Standing at 6ft 3in, he’s already made a number of senior appearances for the Serbian giants and has been widely touted as one of the country’s most promising defensive prospects.

Celtic have been monitoring the defender closely and have reportedly been preparing to make a move this summer. However, the emergence of interest from PSG could complicate matters. The French champions are believed to have sent scouts to watch the youngster in action and have shown concrete interest in a potential deal.

It’s understood that any club wanting to sign Milosavljević would need to part with a fee in the region of £8.4 million. That figure may rise further with elite European clubs now circling, and Red Star holding a strong bargaining position with the player still under a long-term contract.

With the Champions League on the horizon and a desire to build a squad capable of competing at that level, Milosavljević fits the profile of a long-term investment who could command a serious resale value down the line.

Whether Celtic can match the financial pull and profile of clubs like PSG remains to be seen.
