Celtic’s Wanyama Conundrum

VICTOR WANYAMA was a person of interest back in the summer window when it was clear Spurs were trying to sell the midfielder. It looked like he was off to Club Brugge at one point but the midfielder stayed put prompted calls for Celtic to re-sign the player.

Neil Lennon confirmed he did make a play for his former defensive midfielder but it didn’t get off the ground in the end.

With the Kenyan likely to exit Tottenham in the January window there’s still interest from a lot of the Celtic support who would like to see the player back in the hoops.

John Hartson believes Wanyama would be a good signing for Celtic but could cause a midfielder conundrum should he appear back on the scene. The Welshman unsure of who would have to drop out the team to facilitate the player’s inclusion.

“I think the crowd would like to see him go back. He’s a quality player and Celtic could do with quality players. He’s a very good midfielder but Celtic have got good midfield players. They’ve got a collection at their disposal and they can only play four. Does it upset the balance if you bring in Wanyama all of a sudden?” Hartson told Football Fancast.

If Wanyama was to make a sensational return he would surely give Scott Brown the respite he needs to continue playing for Celtic over the next year and a half.
