STV man Ronnie Charters has some more insight into exactly how the Celtic deal for Turnbull collapsed after everything being agreed.
Motherwell announced on Thursday afternoon that the deal had collapsed after an injury was found in his medical.
They spoke about Celtic revising the deal and Ronnie has added some flesh to the bones on what kind of deal Celtic were looking to get for Turnbull.
- He needs immediate corrective surgery on knee ligament issue
- Celtic went back to renegotiate loan deal until end of season with view to perm. deal next summer
- Motherwell never going to accept revised offer
- Turnbull to undergo surgery next week
We believe parent clubs take care of the injury bills of their players even if they’re loaned out unless otherwise specified. This would have meant Celtic would have for the player this summer but Motherwell would have foot the bill for his immediate surgery. As it stood, neither club were happy to proceed with the deal.
Motherwell wanted original deal to stand and Celtic would not pay for an injured player to send him for surgery and then rehab.
One of the more bizarre non transfers you’re ever likely to see.
On a more positive note, Celtic are closing on on a move for Christopher Jullien.
