Celtic’s Thursday Transfer Deadline

CELTIC are in a race against time to bring more players in before the first Champions League deadline after confirming both Christopher Jullien and Luca Connell over the weekend.

Neil Lennon has been looking for a right back for some time now and knows at the present time he goes into the qualifiers with only one inexperienced right back in Anthony Ralston. Lustig leaving this summer has not helped facilitate a gradual passing of the torch and now Lennon either must put his faith in Ralston or find a right back before Thursday.

The deadline for clubs to submit their squad for the first round is midnight July 4, meaning Celtic now have three days to get any players through the door who might play a part in the tie. However, it’s unlikely at this stage for someone to be thrown in on a weeks notice, even if they do sign.

The one saving grace is Celtic have a wild card option where they can register a new player up 24 hours before the game kicks off. However, if any new signing would be unlikely to play after just over a week at the club, it’s even more unlikely anyone coming in that late would get the nod.
