Celtic’s Sliding Doors Moment; Manager Set for Sack

It was just in the summer, Enzo Maresca was heavily linked with a move to Celtic. The Manchester City connection was tipping Fergal Harkin to come in as the head of football operations and Maresca potentially taking the team.

Celtic’s focus was firmly on Eddie Howe from the beginning of the summer and afforded the Englishman all the time in the world to sign on the dotted line. By the time Eddie had led us down the garden path, Enzo was already away to Parma and. Elric had to have a major rethink.

Ange has gone from strength to strength at Celtic this season.

We now have 100% confirmation Peter Lawwell had a big say in Ange Postecoglou coming in; Ian Bankier making that clear at this years AGM.

Ange was the manager of Yokohama Marino’s – part of the City group. It’s no doubt played a part in the Australian getting the gig, much to the delight of the Celtic support at this point in proceedings.

I have no doubt Enzo was looked at by the Celtic board and could have got the nod had he not become the Parma boss. His Manchester City under 23 side were flying and won the league at a canter.

Fast forward to now, the end of November, and he’s about to be unemployed. Football is a funny old thing.
