Celtic’s Short Statement On Jota Sale

Portuguese winger Jota’s Celtic departure was made official on Monday evening.

The Portuguese wide-man joined Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia in a deal worth £25 million according to Fabrizio Romano, penning a three year deal in the Middle East.

Although his departure was disappointing to say the least, Celtic will move on and moments after Al-Ittihad announced the capture of the 24 year old, Celtic released a statement.

Rather short, it read (Celtic Football Club):

“After two seasons with the club, one on loan from Benfica and one on a full contract, Portuguese winger, Jota has left Celtic to join Saudi Arabian club, Al-Ittihad.”

“In his time in the Hoops, Jota won two league titles as well as picking up winner’s medals in both the Scottish and League Cups.”

“Everyone at Celtic Football Club wishes Jota success in his future career.”

Just three paragraphs long, this statement certainly qualifies for the short category.

Moreover, throughout, its tone is rather blunt and straight to the point.

Nevertheless, it is rather similar to the statement released confirming Josip Juranovic’s departure back in January which fit the exact same structure.

Initially, how the player spent their time at the club was noted before what they won in Glasgow is listed.

Finally, the club wishes the player their best going forward.

Therefore, despite the statement on Jota’s exit being rather frank, it is much similar to previous departure announcements.
