Celtic’s potential opponents in the Champions League knockout play-offs have been revealed.
With the Hoops losing 4-2 to Aston Villa at Villa Park tonight, it means Brendan Rodgers’ side finishes 21st in the Champions League table. However, the reward for finishing higher than the likes of Manchester City, Sporting Lisbon, and Club Brugge isn’t as positive as Celtic supporters would have hoped for.

Celtic will face either 11th-place Real Madrid or 12th-place Bayern Munich on either Tuesday, 11th February, or Wednesday, 12th February, at Celtic Park, with the draw set to take place this Friday at 11am.
The Hoops certainly gave their all at Villa Park tonight, and considering they found themselves 2-0 down after just four minutes, they did themselves proud to level the game just before halftime with an Adam Idah double.
The Irish striker showed that he can step up in Europe for the Hoops in his first start since Kyogo’s departure. It was an impressive showing from the Celtic striker.
With Jota likely to be in Celtic’s Champions League squad for the next round, and with the potential addition of Kieran Tierney and a new striker, the Hoops may be able to bring in new signings before the knockout play-offs, with the hope of progressing as far in the competition as possible.
