Celtic remains steadfast in their stance on midfielder Matt O’Riley’s future with the club, despite a bid from Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

A source close to Celtic has told CeltsAreHere.com that O’Riley is “going nowhere” reminding that “he’s just signed a 4-year deal” with the Scottish champions.
This firm position follows reports of a bid from Atletico Madrid, as covered by Sky Sports. The La Liga team, led by Diego Simeone, is said to be keen on bringing the Danish international to Spain and has reportedly put forward a loan offer with an obligation to buy.
Atletico Madrid’s interest in O’Riley is a testament to just how good he’s been this season. However, Celtic’s strong position in the wake of his contract extension means they hold considerable leverage in any transfer negotiations.
O’Riley leaving could really be disastrous for the Hoops. There’s a title and a Scottish Cup to play for, something O’Riley will be an instrumental part of.
