I suppose, in a way, it’s a testament to how well Brendan Rodgers is doing when any draw feels like a defeat. Celtic are expected to win every single domestic game and if they don’t then it almost feels earth-shattering.
However, today’s Kilmarnock game was not a one off and in-fact Celtic have drawn three games out of the six SPFL games they’ve had there so far this season.
Considering the team’s away form is 100% so far in the defence of their league title, the question has to be asked – why do we look less impressive at home?
Today, the easy answer could be that Rodgers made too many changes and that a galvanised Kilmarnock were resolute in defence to stop the Champions. That doesn’t stick too well though as Celtic did make significant changes to the team against Killie earlier in the season and came up with a 6-0 win.
It has to be a bit of a concern for Brendan Rodgers that Celtic have dropped all of their points at Celtic Park.
It feels absolutely ridiculous to be talking about this while Celtic equalled a 100-year-old record this afternoon with a 62 game unbeaten run.
It’s not too concerning at this point but the manager will be looking at why Celtic seem more impressive away from home than away.
Celtic move on from the draw quickly with Bayern heading their way on Tuesday. The team can beat Willy Maley’s 100-year-old record next week away to St Johnstone and if we do play our best football away from home then it will be hard to bet against us not breaking it.
