Explained: How Celtic Can End 18-Year Wait Against St. Johnstone

Celtic welcome St. Johnstone to Parkhead tomorrow afternoon as they aim to rack up another three points in the Scottish Premiership.

The Hoops go into the match off the back of an emphatic 4-0 victory over Motherwell on Boxing Day. It took Brendan Rodgers’ side a while to get going against the Steelmen, but once the deadlock was broken at the end of the first half, the goals soon flowed.

It was another home victory for the Bhoys, who, if they avoid defeat tomorrow, will have gone unbeaten at Celtic Park in all competitions throughout 2024.

Their last loss at Parkhead was in December 2023 to Hearts.

Celtic haven’t gone undefeated at home domestically and in Europe in a calendar year since 2006 under Gordon Strachan, proving how impressive 2024 has been in Glasgow’s east end.

Whether in the league, Scottish Cup, UEFA Champions League, or Premier Sports Cup, Rodgers’ side have been formidable in their own backyard.

Celtic Park is a fortress, and it isn’t showing any signs of weakening soon.

Fans heading to the stadium tomorrow expect another three points in the champions’ last game of the year.

Victory would also put the Celts in a hugely prosperous position going into the colossal Glasgow derby at Ibrox on January 2.
