Celtic’s Frightening Champions League Reality

Celtic will play their first competitive match of the season on July 20/21. That’s when it all kicks off for the new season.

It’s just over a month away and we have some massive decision to make. If we assume Celtic have their manager in place in the next week or so [famous last words], there’s a major defensive crisis ahead of a rally tricky tie.

Rapid Vienna, Galatasaray or FC Midtjjlland will be our opponents and right now we don’t have a suitable enough defence to keep any of these teams at bay.

The goalkeeper position must also be addressed but our defence looks weak and with Celtic in talks to sell Kristoffer Ajer and Christoper Jullien still out injured, our options are very limited.

Ralston, Taylor, Welsh, Bitton, Boli and maybe Leo Hjelde at a push will be the players available to a new coach.

It doesn’t look good.

It’s imperative targets are identified quickly and brought to the club for pre-season.

Given how our managerial hunt has gone, we’d be doing well to get players in before August.
