No sooner had we posted about Brendan Rodgers and Michael Nicholson heading to London did the news filter through of Crystal Place utility man Jeffrey Schlupp was locked in talks to become a Celtic player.
Celtic’s pursuit of Jeffrey has taken a step forward, with Sky Sports Anthony Joseph reporting that the player is keen to join Brendan Rodgers’ side before the window shuts. The key issue now is agreeing how much of Schlupp’s wages Celtic will cover, as the versatile Crystal Palace man enters the final months of his contract.
The player has made 16 appearances for Palace in all competitions this season.

A potential Short-Term Celtic Fix
Schlupp’s ability to play at left-back and left-wing makes him an ideal option for Celtic, with both positions needing depth following Alex Valle’s departure and the lack of competition for Greg Taylor. If a deal is struck, he could undergo a medical in London, a common process for Celtic signings, before making the switch to Glasgow.
What does this mean for Kieran Tierney?
With Schlupp only expected to be a short-term fix, this almost certainly means that Kieran Tierney won’t be arriving until the summer, when his pre-contract agreement with Celtic kicks in. However, if Schlupp impresses, there’s a possibility of a longer-term deal at Parkhead. Especially when you consider Greg Taylor’s contact is currently running down.
