Dinamo Zagreb have dismissed their head coach Sergej Jakirović following their catastrophic 9-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League. [The Athletic]

This decision comes swiftly after the historic loss, which is not only Dinamo’s worst defeat in their history but also a record for the number of goals conceded by one team in a Champions League match.
Jakirović, who was at the helm since the summer of 2023, had initially found success with Dinamo, leading them to a Croatian league and cup double in his debut season. However, the heavy defeat at the Allianz Arena appears to have sealed his fate.
At one point, it looked as if Zagreb had pulled themselves back into the game, but they fell apart after they got into a decent position.
This managerial change occurs as Celtic prepares to face Dinamo Zagreb in matchday six of the Champions League on December 10th.
Celtic themselves are looking to build on a strong start to their campaign, having secured a convincing win over Slovan Bratislava in their opening match.
Goals from Liam Scales, Kyogo, Arne Engels, Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah saw Celtic cruise to a 5-1 win, their biggest ever in the Champions League.
It’s put them in a great place heading into matchday two of the competition.
