Auston Trusty is relishing his burgeoning partnership with fellow American Cameron Carter-Vickers at the heart of Celtic’s defence—and the pair have already become fan favourites.

The £6m summer signing, who recently returned to the starting lineup after a bout of illness, was thrilled to hear the Celtic fans unveil a chant dedicated to him and Carter-Vickers during Sunday’s 3-0 win over St Mirren.

It came after Trusty scored his first goal in green and white, and he came close again on Wednesday night against Dundee United.

Set to the tune of Estelle’s hit American Boy and the lyrics celebrate the club’s transatlantic centre-back duo.

Speaking about the chant, Trusty shared his gratitude for the fans’ creativity and support, highlighting how it has helped him settle into life in Scotland. [Yahoo Sports]

“Yeah, I heard that. It’s amazing.

“To be far from home and not have family around…I remember I went to my first stop here in the UK at Birmingham City.

“In my first game, I made a slide tackle play and the fans started cheering, ‘USA, USA!’. It just made me feel at home right from the start and it just went from there for me.

“So, to be here for a short while and already have a song with myself and Cameron, it just means the world to me and it just makes you really feel at home.

“It shows that you have backing and people appreciate what you do, and it’s just an amazing feeling to have that and to hear fans singing and mentioning your name. It’s just a really good feeling.

“I’ve had some messages [about the song from back home]. They’re just loving it.

“It’s a little bit different being in the States and you’re not here so you don’t really feel the atmosphere. You can’t really…if you don’t see Celtic Park, you’re not at Celtic Park, you just have to use your imagination.

“But for the ones that have been here, they know what it’s like to hear fans singing. They can already tell it’s amazing.”

When he first arrived at Celtic, there was a little bit of unknown. Sheffield United fans didn’t seem to be big raters of the player, but he came in and has shown why a player should never be judged until they play.

He’s a great physical presence, has good speed and also looks comfortable on the ball. Partnering with Carter-Vickers, he is a solid starter for Celtic.

Maybe we’ll soon watch Celtic’s centre-backs win the league with Celtic.
