It’s not often you’ll find me telling talented players to leave Celtic but it’s become abundantly clear Neil Lennon has no plans for Ewan Henderson.
The player was starting to make the breakthrough under Brendan Rodgers but was quickly cast aside by the current Celtic manager when he came back to the club. Henderson is a creative midfielder with a lot to offer but Neil Lennon has been cold on the youngster.
After an injury to Jeremie Frimpong and actually making the bench because it was a dead rubber, Ewan got onto the pitch for 60 minutes against Lille, playing out of position but putting in a great performance. Considering he had no game time before this and wasn’t expecting to get on against Lille, I think he did very well and gave us all food for thought.
Here are the player’s heat map and stats from the game.

In the four games since the Lille tie, Ewan hasn’t even made the bench once.
Considering Neil can pick NINE players to sit on the bench, it tells its own story.
The midfielder has made the bench nine times all season and only got on against the French side. If I was Ewan, I’d be looking for a move away. His brother seen the writing on the wall at Celtic and made a brave move to head out to Italy, I could see something similar happening here.
