Celtic Women Title Race Update; Four Games To Go

Celtic women played out an enthralling 2-2 draw with Glasgow City last night to make things as tight as can be at the top of the SWPL.

Despite losing to Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final at the weekend, the Ghirls bounced back and secured a point against the most successful women’s side in Scotland.

Celtic’s stalemate, coupled with the Gers’ 3-0 win over Hearts, means the sides are level on points going into a Glasgow derby on Monday evening which could be season-defining.

Currently, Elena Sadiku’s side is top due to goal difference, a metric they lead their rivals on by 13. This gives them somewhat of a buffer going into the game, but they will want to win regardless.

After the derby, there will be three games to go, with the Ghirls set to play out their final match of the campaign at Celtic Park against Hibs on the 19th of May.

There is a long way to go before any silverware is handed out but a win on Monday would put the Celts within touching distance of their maiden SWPL title.
