Celtic Women Return To Action With Key Win

Celtic Women returned to action from the international break over the weekend. The Ghirls lost their first SWPL game of the season just before the stop in action, but they returned to winning ways at the weekend.

Away at Dundee United in what was an arduous clash, the Ghirls ran out deserved 2-0 winners. Imane Addi opened the scoring 23 minutes in before Tiree Burchill made sure of the points with just over 20 minutes to go.

It was a significant victory for Fran Alonso’s side who knew they had to get back to winning ways following a tough derby defeat a few weeks prior. With the three points, the Celts maintained their spot in second in the SWPL.

Next up for the Women, a colossal game is in store. Glasgow City will be welcomed to the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie on Friday evening in what is set to be a captivating Sky Sports Cup quarter-final match-up.
