Celtic Women Lose Top Star

Celtic Women enjoyed a good 2022/23 season.

Under the passionate and lovable Fran Alonso, the Ghirls won the Scottish Cup for the second season running and agonisingly missed out on the SWPL title by just two points.

In the end, it was a successful campaign for the women however they have been dealt a sizeable blow with a recent departure.

Pam Tajonar joined Celtic at the beginning of the 2022/23 season from Villarreal and impressed for the Hoops.

She wonderfully set up Caitlin Hayes for a last minute equaliser against Rangers in March that sparked some memorable scenes and throughout the campaign, remained a reliable figure for the Ghirls between the sticks.

This week, though, she departed for Mexico, joining Monterrey on a permanent deal.

Due to this, Fran Alonso will need to attempt to find a valid replacement for Tajonar going into the 2023/24 season.

Having a confident and reliable goalkeeper is crucial for the outfield players’ piece of mind therefore who plays in goal next season is vital.
