Celtic Women Land Spanish Tie in Champions League Qualifier

The new format of the women’s champions league will start off with mini-tournaments with clubs put into groups of four where there will be a semi-final then a final.

Meaning the Hoops will have to come through two ties if they’re to be successful and make it to round 2.

It will only be the winners of each final who make it through; 11 from the champions path and four from the league path Celtic are entering from.

Celtic will be up against Levante in the semi-final and if they progress will play Minsk or Rosenborg in the final.

Round 1 (one-venue mini-tournaments)
Semi-finals: 18 August
Finals/third-place play-offs: 21 August

Fran Alonso and his ghirls will be making history when they play in the competition, this will be the club’s debut season in the competition.

In their first full season as a professional side, Celtic have managed to qualify and beat their bitter rivals to the punch. The ghirls also narrowly missed out on the league title.

Next season, they will look to go one better and win the title, but that will be no easy task. Glasgow City have dominated for so long – they are used to winning.

Let’s hope the ghirls can make a good account of themselves in European competition and set themselves up for success next term.
