MIKEY JOHNSTON has made himself available for Ireland after years of Scotland snubs.
The Celtic winger who is currently on loan in Portugal has made it known he’s now available for the Irish national setup which he qualifies through the grandparent rule.
Johnston has always felt on the cusp of the Celtic first team before injury stopped him in his tracks on several occasions.
He’s having a very positive season in Portugal with Victoria Guimaraes.
Pundit arena confirm Stephen Kenny flew out to Portugal last month to watch the winger and now the FAI are ready to announce Johnston’s switch of allegiance.

Mikey has played for Scotland at youth level but always been overlooked for the full national squad. Scotland’s decision not to utilise the player is now Ireland’s gain.
The Celtic player is very much in contention for the Irish national side for the upcoming international break.
CeltsAreHere understands Mikey’s longterm future will be thrashed out upon his return to Celtic in the summer. Ange Postecoglou believes Mikey is very talented but there’s always been a question mark over his fitness and the more physical side of the game.
