Celtic opened up a lead at the top of the table on Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 win over Hearts at Paradise.
It wasn’t the prettiest performance under Ange Postecoglou, but the three points on the board have opened up a two-point gap.
It was a second-string Hearts team that was fielded; it’s safe to say they didn’t threaten the Celtic side, failing to register a shot on target throughout the whole ninety.
After watching Celtic on Sunday afternoon, here are three things we learned.
Hatate Walks Into The Side
After Turnbull was given another chance to show why he should have a spot in the starting side, he failed to impress again. The improvement of Reo Hatate was brilliant; the difference in the quality of the players was clear to see.
Hatate was efficient and constantly moving and threatening Hearts, while Turnbull was sluggish, too slow on the ball, and had some slack passing.
VAR is Needed ASAP
Today was one of the worst linesmen performances to ever be witnessed at Celtic Park. Far too many times, the lineman had his flag raised, stopping a passage of play, wrongly.
Had VAR been in use for the game, the play would’ve been allowed to run to a natural conclusion, and if it resulted in a goal, it would then be checked.
We Never Stop
Even when the crowd were on the players’ back, urging them just to keep the ball rather than try to work out another attack and risk losing the ball. Instead, the team stuck to their plan and ended up doubling their lead in the closing stages.
