Celtic Urged To Seal ‘Brilliant Bit of Business’

Charlie Mulgrew has told Celtic to make a move for Motherwell’s Lennon Miller while the summer transfer window is still open.

The former Hoops defender thinks the 18-year-old midfielder has everything needed to succeed at the club, and says he wouldn’t cost a fortune to sign.

Mulgrew urged the club to act quickly. He believes Miller would suit a number eight role under Brendan Rodgers and could grow into a key player if brought in now. With the window until 1 September, there’s still time to get the deal done.

Miller stood out last season with his sharp passing and calmness on the ball, even in a tough Motherwell side. Bigger clubs have been keeping tabs on him, but Mulgrew sees Celtic as the best place for the youngster to take the next step.

Motherwell may be open to selling due to their finances, and that gives Celtic a good chance to land one of the country’s top young midfielders at a fair price.

He said: (Go Radio Football Show), “I’d love to see Celtic sign Lennon Miller. Think that’d be a brilliant bit of business.

“Play him in one of those number eight roles, ease him into the season, and there’s no doubt, he’d be one of Celtic’s top performers this year if they get him in.

“Imagine him in that position, getting loads of the ball, using that wand of a right foot to dictate games. It’d be class to watch.

“And truth be told, it wouldn’t even be that expensive to get him out of Motherwell, especially with them needing to sell.”

Celtic are still building their squad for the new season, and midfield is one area where they could do with more options. Signing a young player like Miller, who could be eased in over time, would fit well with the club’s long-term approach.

Mulgrew’s comments reflect a growing view among fans that Celtic should make better use of Scottish talent. Miller has already proven he can cope with the demands of the Premiership, both physically and technically.

If Celtic decide to move, they’d be getting a player who can help now and develop even further. At 18, Miller has plenty of potential and would add to the mix alongside Reo Hatate, Callum McGregor, and Benjamin Nygren.

There’s still a few weeks left before the window shuts. Celtic have the money and reason to make it happen, the question is whether they’ll act on Mulgrew’s advice before someone else does.
