Former Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew has backed the idea of Celtic signing Blackburn Rovers winger Tyrhys Dolan.

He spoke highly of Dolan’s ability and flexibility on the wing. With pace and a direct style, the Blackpool-born winger impressed last season, and Mulgrew believes Celtic would do well to bring him in.
Dolan had a strong 2024/25 campaign for Blackburn, making 47 appearances, scoring seven times and providing six assists. Despite that, Blackburn haven’t offered him a new contract, meaning he could leave for free this summer.
Mulgrew and Dolan were teammates at Blackburn Rovers from 2020 until 2021. The former Celtic defender thinks that familiarity could help Dolan settle quickly if he moved north and joined Brendan Rodgers’ squad.
He said: (Go Radio Football Show), “Somebody asked who I’d sign for Celtic. I’d go for Tyrhys Dolan. He’s out of contract at Blackburn.
“Winger. Class player. Came through there, looked brilliant last year. His deal’s up, I’d absolutely go and get him.”
A move for Dolan would fit with Celtic’s recent approach of signing young, energetic players who can handle the demands of a fast, attacking style. With James Forrest among the options out wide, Dolan would offer fresh competition and added depth to the position.
Mulgrew’s backing might carry influence with those in charge of recruitment, given his experience in the game and knowledge of what it takes to succeed at Celtic. If the club moves quickly, they could land Dolan before others make their move.

A summer switch looks more unlikely by the week. With Mulgrew urging the club to act, supporters will be watching to see if Celtic make a move for a player who could bring added spark out wide.
