Celtic Unlikely to Sign Marseille Star Despite Reported Interest

Celtic have joined two premier league sides in a bid to sign Marseille rising star Bamba Dieng according to reports but are likely to be outbid [Scottish Sun]. 

The Senegalese international caught the eye of clubs after his impressive performances in Ligue 1 last season with the striker scoring seven goals along with three assists to add to his tally in 25 appearances for the club.

He is an international teammate of Bayern Munich star Sadio Mane and has been hailed as the new ‘Sadio Mane’ in Senegal.

The 22-year old has already experienced success with his homeland having won the African Cup of Nations as he took one of the final penalties against Egypt.

Ange Postecoglou is reportedly said to be interested in the striker after his impressive performances both domestically and internationally but may be priced out a move according to [Homme Du Match]. 

However, the Scottish champions are not the only side interested in his services with English premier league sides Newcastle United and Leeds United also said to be interested in the player [90min]. 

The reported fee which Marseille are looking to receive before letting Dieng go is a reported £15 million which the Hoops are unlikely to pay.

Currently, the record fee spent by a Scottish club was on Tore Andre Flo back in 2000 at £12 million.
