Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers has been nominated for the Manager of the Year award.

Maeda, fresh off sweeping the board at Celtic’s own Player of the Year awards – including Top Goalscorer, Men’s Player of the Year, and Players’ Player of the Year – adds another nomination to his growing list of accolades. The Japanese forward has also just claimed the PFA Scotland Player of the Year.

Joining him on the shortlist is club captain Callum McGregor, who has once again led by example at the heart of Brendan Rodgers’ midfield. The 31-year-old’s consistency, leadership, and ability to control the tempo of big games have made him a central figure in Celtic’s title-winning campaign and ongoing push for a domestic Treble. He’s also got on the scoresheet a favour few times this season.

They are joined by Nectar Triantis of Hibernian and Simon Murray of Dundee—both recognised for their standout seasons in what has been a competitive year across the league.

The winner of the award will be announced at the SFWA Awards Dinner on Sunday, May 18th, with the event taking place at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Glasgow.

Should either Maeda or McGregor take home the prize, it would cap off what has already been a glittering campaign for the Hoops, with a league title secured, a cup final on the horizon, and key players rightly earning national recognition for their contributions.
