For those of you keen on following developments in Celtic’s chase of another striker – contrary to reports on Thursday the club have not come to an agreement with VVV Venlo over their striker Gorgios Giakoumakis.
The centre forward has caught the eye of the Celtic manager after grabbing top goal scorer in the Dutch top flight last season in a team that eventually got relegated. It would be a major deal if the club could pull off the signing. Grabbing a top goal scorer from the Dutch league for a reasonable price is unheard of.
Given Celtic have also shown interest in Thomas Henry – Ange is clearly looking for a specific type of target man striker.
Trusted Greek reporter Giannis Chorianopoulos has delivered the Celtic update on Friday afternoon.
Not a done deal yet but… Celtic and Venlo are talking about some important details for Giakoumakis. Dutch club would like a better offer but in the end is possible to accept Celtic's bid. Werder still in the game though @CelticFC @werderbremen #Celtic #CelticFC #Werder

So the deal isn’t done, but Celtic remain in the hunt. Given it’s not a top priority at the moment – Celtic can afford to wait this one out and see how things transpire.
We’re due to hear news on Jusip Juranovic shortly who will come in to challenge Anthony Ralston for right back. Liam Scales is also a player expected to come in before the deadline as another centre back option. The club is pressing ahead.
