Celtic Transfer Target Suffers Major Injury Blow

Celtic’s reported January target Raul Moro, a highly-rated winger for Real Valladolid, was stretchered off during his side’s 2-1 loss to Espanyol with what is suspected to be a fractured collarbone.

The injury is expected to rule him out for around three months, likely putting an end to any immediate chance of a move to Parkhead.

The 21-year-old winger has been one of Real Valladolid’s standout performers this season, attracting interest from several clubs, including Celtic and Ajax. Valued at £8.5 million, Moro’s injury comes at a critical time when the Scottish champions were reportedly weighing up an offer for the Spain U21 international.

Real Valladolid were said to be aware of Celtic’s interest, but as of now, no formal bid had been submitted. With the injury ruling him out until at least March, it appears any potential move for the talented youngster will be shelved until the summer.

Real Valladolid’s precarious position in La Liga—currently sitting 19th and battling relegation—could play a major role in Moro’s future. If the Spanish side drops to the second tier, Celtic may look to revisit their interest in the summer with the hope of securing the player at a reduced fee.

However, Ajax were also monitoring the winger, and a potential bidding war could still be on the cards in the next transfer window. Moro’s injury may temporarily cool interest, but his long-term potential will keep him on the radar of European clubs.

With Moro now probably off the table for this transfer window, Brendan Rodgers and his recruitment team may need to turn their attention elsewhere as they seek to strengthen the squad. Reports have already linked Celtic with other wide players as the club looks to bolster its attacking options for the second half of the season.
