Celtic have once again missed out on Louie Barry, with the attacker set for another loan move in England rather than a switch to the Scottish Premiership.
Celtic had identified the 22-year-old as a serious target earlier in the year, with Brendan Rodgers keen to bolster his forward line after Kyogo’s exit.

In January, reports claimed the club tabled a £5 million offer for Barry, with a further £5 million in add-ons. The proposal also featured a buy-back clause for Aston Villa, showing the club’s readiness to work around Villa’s future intentions for the player.
Barry’s name was floated as one of several potential sigbings capable of slotting through the middle or out wide, offering some much-needed flexibility in the final third.

The former Barcelona youth player impressed during a spell at Stockport County last season, finding the net regularly in League One before being recalled by Villa midway through the campaign.
That run of form brought him to the attention of clubs further up the ladder, including Celtic, who were exploring options both in and outside of Scotland.
Despite the interest from Glasgow, Barry chose to remain in the English system. He initially joined Hull City on loan, linking up with Ruben Selles.

However, Selles was quickly appointed Sheffield United manager after the Blades parted ways with Chris Wilder. And with his new club in need of fresh legs up front, Selles moved fast to bring Barry with him to Bramall Lane.
That decision ends any hopes Celtic had of securing the forward this window, with Barry now set to test himself in the Championship rather than head north of the border. The hunt for another forward continues at Lennoxtown as Rodgers looks to add quality before the window closes.
